What is the Treatment Process of Invisible Braces?

Invisible braces help straighten and realign your teeth. The treatment process used is fast, effective, and designed to require as few trips to the dentist as possible. In fact, patients who choose to go with invisible braces will spend less time in the dentist office than those who selected traditional metal braces.

Once you have decided upon invisible braces, we can start the treatment process. The first step of the treatment process involves scheduling an evaluation appointment with our dentist, Dr. Cashion. The evaluation appointment allows us to assess the overall health of your mouth, gums, and teeth, as well as create a treatment plan. In order for us to create a treatment plan, we will need to take dental photos, x-rays, and dental impressions. All of these things are needed to help us create the aligner trays you will use for treatment.

After the evaluation appointment, you will need to return to our office to receive your set of clear aligners. It can take anywhere from four to six weeks to receive the clear aligners, as we need to send the dental records out to the manufacturer. The manufacturer can take up to eight weeks to create the series of aligners and send them back. When the clear aligners are sent to us, we will have you schedule an appointment to pick them up.

Once you receive the aligners, you will wear the first set for two weeks. After two weeks, you will remove them and replace them with the next set of aligners. This will continue until all the aligners have been used.

Cashion Dental likes to monitor the process of any patient who is undergoing treatment with invisible braces. We require our patients to schedule an appointment every six weeks. This is a quick appointment to assess the patient's progress and make sure everything is going according to the treatment plan. These appointments only take a few minutes.

This is just an overview of the basic steps involved in treating patients using invisible braces. Each patient will have a unique treatment plan created for them that addresses specific concerns, such as uneven teeth or overbites. Contact Cashion Dental to schedule an appointment to discuss specific questions you may have regarding this type of orthodontic treatment.

What are the Benefits of Invisible Braces?

Choosing to straighten your teeth with invisible braces has numerous benefits that cannot be experienced with traditional wire braces. These benefits include everything from not having to deal with painful metal brackets or wires, to improved oral health and fewer restrictions on the foods that can or cannot be eaten.

One of the biggest concerns patients have regarding traditional metal braces is the pain involved. The metal wiring and brackets can poke an individual's cheeks and gums, which causes extreme pain. This is no longer a concern with invisible braces. Invisible braces use clear, plastic trays, known as aligners, to subtly shift the teeth back into proper position. Using this technique, the metal wires and brackets that were once so painful have been completely eliminated.

Another huge benefit of invisible braces is the ability to eat almost anything. When a dentist or orthodontist places metal braces, he or she will give the patient a long list of items, such as gum, candy, and popcorn, which cannot be eaten. These foods must be avoided to prevent damage to wires or brackets on metal braces. Invisible braces do not have any food restrictions. Patients are able to eat whatever they want, when they want because the aligner trays are completely removable.

In addition to the fewer food restrictions and no pain, patients who choose invisible braces will also experience improved oral health. Patients with traditional metal braces often struggle to keep their teeth clean. It is difficult to clean in between the wires and brackets. This can result in plaque or tartar buildup, which compromises the patient's oral health. Luckily, those with invisible braces do not have to worry about this problem. Patients with invisible braces can quickly and easily clean their teeth. They just remove the alignment tray, brush and floss like normal, and place the tray back into their mouth. This allows patients to clean their teeth whenever without the need to schedule a separate appoint to visit the dentist or orthodontist.

What is the Cost of Invisible Braces?

The cost of invisible braces will vary depending upon the complexity of the situation, how many aligners need to be made, and the length of the overall treatment. The average cost of a full set of aligners from Cashion Dental is approximately $4,850.

Orthodontic treatment can be expensive. Luckily, some dental insurance offer orthodontic coverage. If you have a plan that has orthodontic coverage, it may dramatically reduce the cost of treatment. Cashion Dental is an in network provider with many major dental companies, including BlueCross BlueShield, United Concordia, and Delta Dental. Even if we are not an in network provider for your insurance, we will accept your insurance and file the claim for you. However, just like with same day crowns and other dental services coverage is not guaranteed. When your insurance either denies the claim for this type of treatment or does not provide coverage for it, you will be responsible for paying any outstanding balance.

If you do not have dental insurance you may be able to finance this type of orthodontic treatment through CareCredit. CareCredit offers free, no interest financing for healthcare and dental related expenses. Some restrictions may apply, but it can help those that do not have dental insurance afford this type of treatment. In the event you wish to pay for treatment in full, we offer a number of payment options. Cashion Dental accepts cash, check, and most major credit cards, such as VISA, MasterCard, and American Express.

Our office staff at Cashion Dental is available to discuss possible financing options with our patients. Call our office to discuss invisible braces and to learn more about how you can afford this type of orthodontic treatment.

TOP REASONS FOR CHOOSING INVISIBLE BRACES OVER TRADITIONAL BRACES

  • Should I Get Invisible Braces?

Published by Cashion Dental June 14, 2016

Many people who could benefit from braces are afraid to get them because they’re embarrassed by the way those braces might appear. However, there’s no need to avoid braces any longer. Invisalign braces truly are virtually invisible to the naked eye.

We create your invisible braces by making a computer model of your mouth. You’re given a set of customized trays to gently bring your teeth into alignment. These trays are clear and fit right over your teeth. You wear them for 22 hours a day, and they don’t require any special hardware. Slip them off and on as needed. You can still eat all of your favorite foods and take them off to clean your teeth.

Most of the time, nobody will notice that you’re wearing invisible braces. They’re far more comfortable than traditional braces, and easier to maintain. Many patients see results in two months, even though a full course of Invisalign treatments lasts for up to one year.

Give yourself the gift of a beautiful smile. Ask about Invisalign and get your invisible braces today.

Invisalign invisible braces have been chosen by over 700,000 dental patients since 2008, and they are growing more popular with every passing year. Not every dentist is certified and trained to straighten your teeth using invisible braces, but those who are can give you access to the five following advantages of Invisalign over traditional braces:

    1. Less Noticeable: The clear acrylic aligner trays of invisible braces let the true color of your natural teeth shine through. No unsightly metal will be seen by others when you smile, and many may not even realize you are wearing braces at all.
    2. Less Discomfort: Metal wiring in you mouth is more than a mere aesthetic problem—it can also cause discomfort when you bite, chew, and talk. The soft plastic of invisible braces will not tear at the soft tissues of your inner cheeks like traditional braces sometimes do.
    3. Less Hassle: Cleaning metal braces can be a tedious and time-consuming task. You must carefully clean around the contact points, and plaque and food particles still get stuck underneath the braces, causing poor oral hygiene. With Invisalign, simply remove the trays during cleaning and replace them when finished.
    4. Less Restriction: No one likes to be told they cannot consume their favorite foods and drinks, compete in their favorite sports, or engage in vigorous exercise for months or years on end. Invisible braces make such restrictions a thing of the past. You can safely remove your braces for up to two hours a day.
    5. Less Waiting: Traditional metal braces are often worn for as long as 36 months, but invisible braces typically only take 12 months to straighten your teeth, while also requiring fewer dental visits.

Invisalign and other brands of invisible braces have become a very popular alternative to traditional metal braces in recent years. You will want to consult with your dentist before making a final decision since there are a few situations in which invisible braces are not recommended. However, in most cases, they are a viable option that offers numerous benefits that outperform metal braces, including:

    1. Aesthetics: The clear acrylic trays used with invisible braces let your natural teeth show through. This is much more appealing than the sight of metal wires, and in many cases, people will not even realize you are even wearing braces.
    2. Comfort: Invisible braces work by means of gentle nudges on your teeth that gradually move your teeth into position for the next aligner to be worn. They simply feel better in your mouth, and there are not sharp brackets and wires to cut your cheeks or gums.
    3. Convenience: Since invisible braces are removable, you can eat and drink foods of your choosing as long as you brush and floss before putting the aligners back on. You can also take the braces off during exercise, sports practice, and other strenuous activities. You should wear them, however, while sleeping and for 20 to 22 hours per day.
    4. Time-Savings: With invisible braces, you only need to see the dentist on a minimal basis. During the first visit, he will acquire all the information needed to make the full set of aligners. On the next visit, you will pick them up. After that, you will likely only see your dentist once every 6 weeks- and only for a few-minutes-long routine check-up.

Since 1999, Invisalign invisible braces have been used to straighten the teeth of over 2.5 million people worldwide and today, over 80,000 dentists are trained to provide some form of invisible braces. Some of the most important reasons for the popularity of this relatively new kind of braces include:

    1. A More Natural Appearance

The clear acrylic trays used with Invisalign do away with the highly visible metal wires of traditional braces. From a distance, it is difficult to discern the presence of any braces at all, and even up close, the natural teeth show through.

    2. Greater Comfort

Invisalign aligners work by exerting only gentle pressures on teeth, which, after gradually adjusting tooth positions over about a 12-month period, correct misaligned teeth with little to no pain. This is in stark contrast to the pressure of tightly-wound metal braces or of metal wires and brackets that painfully poke at the cheeks and gums.

    3. Greater Convenience

Invisible braces are removable, allowing you to eat any foods you please, exercise and run in comfort, and brush and floss effectively. They must be worn for 20 hours a day, including while asleep, but a 4-hour, daily break from having braces in your mouth is a welcome convenience.

    4. Fewer Trips to the Dentist

After an initial evaluation to take the X-rays and impressions needed to create the aligners, you only need to see the dentist every 6 weeks for a quick check-up to verify the braces are working properly. The whole set of aligners is manufactured at the commencement of treatment.
